The DEMOQUAS project was represented at the 16th EASN International Conference, held from 27 to 30 October 2026, with contributions from researchers at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), the project coordinator, and Delft University of Technology (TUD), a project partner.
The conference brought together researchers, industry experts and aviation professionals to share the latest developments and explore innovative solutions for the future of sustainable aviation.
During the third and fourth days of the conference, Georgios Arvithis (AUTH) and Alessandro Borgia (TUD) presented four research contributions addressing key challenges in hydrogen-powered aviation, including cryogenic hydrogen storage, engine performance and uncertainty-aware aircraft design.
The following works were presented across three technical sessions:
Gaseous and Liquid Hydrogen Storage and Refuelling for Aviation
- Uncertainty-Aware Cryogenic Hydrogen Tank Design Optimization for Regional Turboprop Aircraft
- A Validated Computational Framework for Cryogenic Tank Filling
Sustainable Aviation Propulsion
- Safety-Assured Performance Assessment and Uncertainty Quantification of a Hydrogen-Fuelled Aircraft Engine Using a Surrogate Model
Innovative and Multi-Disciplinary Aircraft Design for Emissions Reduction – Part IV
- Uncertainty-aware Global Sensitivity Analysis for Aircraft Conceptual Design
These contributions provided an opportunity to share research findings and engage with the international scientific community on some of the technical challenges associated with the transition towards more sustainable aviation.
Beyond the technical presentations, the EASN Conference offered a valuable setting for exchanging knowledge, exploring new perspectives and strengthening connections among researchers working towards the future of aviation.
Congratulations to our colleagues at AUTH and TUD for their contributions and for bringing DEMOQUAS research to the international stage!
