In the realm of aviation safety, the integration of Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) technology represents a significant advancement. Unlike traditional radar systems, ADS-B enables aircraft to broadcast their precise position, velocity, and other critical data derived from onboard systems, such as GPS. This broadcast, known as ADS-B Out, can be received by ground stations or other aircraft equipped with ADS-B In, facilitating real-time situational awareness and improved traffic management.
EUROCONTROL has been at the forefront of implementing ADS-B across Europe, supporting over 1,000 ground stations and integrating space-based surveillance data into its Enhanced Tactical Flow Management System (ETFMS).
